Selma Blair was recognized as the best competition contestant of 2022 at the People’s Choice Awards, which took place on Tuesday night. She won this honor for her outstanding performance on Dancing With The Stars.
The prize was given to Selma by her close friend and co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar, and as Selma accepted the medal, many of her supporters became overcome with emotion.
One commenter said, “Selma Blair already made me emotional, and #ThePeoplesChoiceAwards have just began,” while another posted, “Tears watching Selma Blair accept her #PeoplesChoiceAwards for DWTS,” in response to the first comment.
A third person lauded Selma for her resilience in the face of her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, adding in their comment, “Kudos to Selma Blair for enjoying her life to the fullest. Selma Blair is living with MS with courage and grace.”
In reference to the fact that she had been awarded a prize, Selma stated, “I can’t believe the people gave me something after giving me so much after the previous few years.”
In addition, she expressed gratitude to her partner in dancing, Sasha Farber, stating, “Thank you to Sasha for being my partner and finding a way to assist me to move.”
In 2018, Selma received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS), and as a result, she was unable to continue competing on Dancing With the Stars after the month of October.
During the course of the rehearsals, the star of “Legally Blonde” said to Sasha, “You know I’ve been monitored and in touch with my doctors this entire process.”
I had these MRIs, and when the findings came back, it just added up to I can’t, I can’t, I can’t continue with the competition. I pushed myself as far as I possibly could.
