Donald Trump and Melania Trump have been through a lot. But nothing could have prepared them for what is happening at the moment. The former President is in the middle of a dozen lawsuits, as of the latest and still ongoing, the civil fraud trial that threatens Donald Trump’s whole real estate empire.
Earlier this year, when Donald Trump was indicted for the first time, Melania Trump was not seen by his side in court. Speculations about what caused that decision went through the roof – but as of today, it appears that there is one major reason behind why.
Still, even though nothing has been decided, Melania has already taken action to protect her and her son Barron Trump’s future. And it might be the difference between living a life of luxury or not having anything left at all.
In March, Donald Trump was indicted by a New York court. More indictments against him have followed, and several other lawsuits are ongoing.
Now, Donald Trump is going through a civil court case in New York, which could threaten his entire business empire. He is accused of inflating the value of his properties by over $2 billion to secure favorable loans.
However, the former President denied wrongdoing and called the case a “sham.”
Melania Trump protects Barron during Donald Trump trials
Through it all, Melania Trump has decided to stay quiet and has not been on the campaign trail or in the courtroom with her husband.
The former First Lady chose to stay quiet as Trump’s mugshot went viral after he was booed and fingerprinted at a Georgia jailhouse for charges of election fraud.
According to a People Magazine source, that has to do with not only herself but also Barron Trump.
“Melania is good at taking care of business at hand, which includes her own life, the life of her son, and the lives of her close family members,” the source told People Magazine.
“She would not stand in a circle of people she knows and openly comment on the lawsuits or the mug shot. She will have her way of dealing with this and anything else publicly when she feels like it,” the source added. “Remember, Melania is a mom with a not-yet-adult son to protect. A mug shot that everyone is talking about is just one more issue to wade through.”
Though Melania is reportedly angry with her husband over the Stormy Daniels affair, she is said to want to keep a low profile. At least that’s what Melania’s former aide and best friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff says.
Speaking to PageSix, Wolkoff said Melania would stand by her husband, but that doesn’t mean the former First Lady approves of his actions.
“Melania lives in an ivory tower of denial,” Wolkoff said. “I never expected to see her there. Her silence is deliberate, it is her weapon of choice and her protective armor.”
“She knew what she was getting into when she married Donald”
“Of course, she knows about Donald’s affairs; she knows everything. But her silence is her dignity. She will stand by her husband, as she always does. I don’t think Melania is humiliated by his affairs — but she is angry,” she added.
Wolkoff wrote the tell-all memoir Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady. The two met for the first time in New York City in 2003. Still, Stephanie and Melania’s friendship ended following a bitter feud over the $26 million that Wolkoff’s company was paid to help plan the Trump inauguration. In fact, Wolkoff argued that she was “thrown under the bus” by Melania.
Wolkoff stated that though Melania is furious, she won’t leave Trump. Moreover, the former aide explained that Trump’s wife doesn’t believe she has to “answer or explain herself to anyone.”
“This is a transactional marriage, she knew what she was getting into when she married Donald. Her means of survival is to just act like it never happened,” Wolkoff claimed.
“Privately, Melania says people are just jealous, and she hoped the Stormy Daniels scandal would be swept under the carpet. Her way of coping is to never let her feelings show or affect her. I predict we will see her back at his side at the next social event at Mar-a-Lago.”
Meanwhile, Melania’s former Chief of Staff, Stephanie Grisham, told Inside Edition that Melania has no sympathy for her husband.
“I would be very, very surprised. I would be very surprised to see her in court,” Grisham said. “Because it has to do with Stormy Daniels. It’s just not in her to stand by her man for something like that.”
Melania’s son, Barron Trump, received death threats
“She’s not lending him a whole lot of moral support, and I’m sure she’s still thinking: ‘You got yourself into this mess. I’m certainly not going to walk beside you and support you as you try to get out of it,’” she added.
Moreover, Stephanie said Melania was disgusted with Donald when she first learned about his alleged affair with Daniels.
“She always said to me, ‘this is his problem,’” Grisham recalled.
While Donald Trump is going through another trial, the former President and First Lady have been left in shock over what happened to their son, Barron, in August.
Then, a Chicago woman was arrested over alleged threats to kill Donald Trump and Barron. The social studies teacher was arrested on a charge of transmitting threats to kill or injure Donald and his son.
It came just months after she had traveled to Florida to allegedly stalk Barron. The woman had been questioned by police in Palm Beach outside the Oxbridge Academy in March, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The Guardian reported that the death threat was sent in an email to the unidentified head of an educational institution in Palm Beach County, southern Florida, where Mar-a-Lago is located.
“I will state that I will shoot Donald Trump Sr AND Barron Trump straight in the face at any opportunity I get!” the woman wrote in an email in May.
As per CBS, a senior law enforcement official said the woman had been “on the US Secret Service’s radar for several years.” Recently, the “nature of her threats escalated to become more specific.”
Melania Trump renegotiates terms of her prenuptial agreement
To say the least, the Trump family is going through a very challenging time. The justice system will decide if he has broken any laws, and time will tell whether it will change their lives.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump has decided to start thinking about the future, especially in a future where her husband is being found guilty.
According to Page Six, Melania Trump has spent the last year re-negotiating the terms of her prenuptial agreement with Donald. Now, the source says, her new “postnup” is in place. The news outlet reports that Melania wanted the new deal because she was worried about how much money would be left for her and Barron after legal bills, damages, and possible fines were paid.
“This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles.[Donald] has suffered,” a source told Page Six, adding that the re-negotiated prenup will “provide a more solid future” for Melania and Barron if the couple would go separate ways.
“It’s not that she threatened to leave him. It’s definitely the underlying idea.”
A person familiar with the renegotiated prenup told Page Six that Melania wanted the deal to provide her with money and property. It included cash, where there is a “specific amount at minimum that Barron is supposed to obtain.”
Moreover, another source told the news outlet, “This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her martial agreement.”
Melania Trump says it would be a “privilege” to serve as First Lady again
No one knows what will happen next. But what has already been decided is that Donald Trump will enter the bid to become US President in 2024. Reports have suggested that Donald Trump and his wife have not been on the best terms since he was first arrested in connection to the Stormy Daniels trial.
Previously, Melania reportedly stated she never wanted to return to the White House as she thought it was her least favorite place on earth. But things have changed.
Shortly after the Trump 2024 re-election campaign announcement in November, his daughter, Ivanka Trump, revealed she would not be on the campaign trail again with her father. Around that time, it was also reported that Melania had no interest in campaigning again.
Some months ago, in an interview with Fox News, Melania said she was looking forward to working alongside her husband again to restore “hope for the future” and “leading America with love and strength” for a second presidential term.
Moreover, Melania Trump explained that serving as First Lady again would be a “privilege.”
“My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again,” she told Fox News. “He has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength.”
Wants to “prioritize the well-being and development of children”
Since leaving the White House, Melania has focused on her project, Fostering the Future, which aims to award two individuals from foster care university-level scholarships.
Children have always been one of Melania Trump’s big passions. If Donald were to be re-elected as US President, she said she would “prioritize the well-being and development of children as I have always done.”
“My focus would continue to be creating a safe and nurturing space for children to learn, grow, and thrive,” she said. “If additional problems arise, I will take the time to study them and understand their root causes.”
Melania added, “My goal would be to ensure that every child has the support and resources they need to reach their full potential.”
