Eric Braeden, the 82-year-old star of the long-running soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless’, has announced that he is cancer-free. In a Facebook Live video, Braeden shared the good news with his fans, expressing gratitude for all the support he received during his battle with cancer.
“As of three days ago, I am cancer-free,” Braeden said. He went on to thank his fans for their good thoughts and prayers, which meant a great deal to him. The soap opera actor also recounted his recent cystoscopy, a procedure where a camera is threaded into the bladder to inspect for cancer cells. Much to his relief, the doctors couldn’t find a single cancerous thing. “Isn’t that nice?” he added with a smile.
While Braeden is happy about his cancer-free status, he acknowledges that his journey is not over yet. He is still awaiting the results of an MRI to determine if the cancer has spread from his bladder. In the event of positive results, he will have to undergo further treatments. However, the actor remains optimistic and continues to have a positive outlook on life.
“I love life, man. Why wouldn’t I?” Braeden said. “I’m working on the No. 1 show. It has been No. 1 for 38 years now. Why would I complain? That would be obscene.”
Braeden’s decision to go public with his diagnosis was driven by his desire to help others overcome their fears of cancer. He hopes that by sharing his story, he can encourage men to prioritize their health and seek medical attention when necessary. He believes that early detection and treatment can make a significant difference.
The actor also reflected on his journey with cancer, emphasizing the importance of getting regular check-ups and paying attention to the body’s warning signs. Difficulty urinating and incomplete bladder emptying were some of the early indications he experienced. Braeden wants men to be aware of these symptoms and not hesitate to seek medical advice.
As fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rejoice at the news of Braeden’s recovery, the actor continues to entertain audiences on the show, which has been a staple for over four decades. His positive attitude and love for life are a testament to his resilience and dedication to his craft.
