Wheel of Fortune host, Pat Sajak, recently opened up about his harrowing experience with emergency surgery. In his first interview since the operation, Sajak shared the intensity of the pain he endured, admitting he feared for his life.
It all began while Sajak was on a morning walk with his daughter in November. Suddenly, he felt excruciating pain. Hours later, he found himself doubled over in agony, preparing for surgery. Despite various attempts to alleviate his suffering, no medication seemed to work. That is, until his doctors introduced a powerful drug that swiftly swept away the pain.
In a mesmerizing moment, Sajak found himself immersed in a world of beautiful pastels and lovely faces, temporarily escaping the reality of his excruciating ordeal. Even the distant sound of his wife and daughter’s voices felt like they were miles away. In that surreal state, he contemplated the possibility of death and worried about his loved ones left behind to deal with the aftermath.
Fortunately, Sajak’s fears did not materialize, and he made it through the surgery successfully. Looking back, he reflected on his mistaken assumptions, saying with a laugh, “As it turned out, I was just high.”
