According to his family, NFL player Damar Hamlin’s health is “going upwards,” and things are moving in a “good direction” after experiencing cardiac arrest on the field during a game on Monday night.
After collapsing to the ground after making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins and being treated by first responders, the Buffalo Bills player remains in critical condition in the hospital.
Dorrian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle, told CNN on Tuesday evening that his nephew needed to be resuscitated twice. Still, family friend and Hamlin’s marketing representative Jordon Rooney addressed those remarks on Wednesday, claiming Glenn misspoke and the safety was only resuscitated once.
“Things are moving in the right direction right now,” Rooney told NFL Network. “I believe the doctors saw what they were looking for. According to accounts last night, he was resurrected twice. I just wanted to emphasize that we messed up, and he was only resuscitated once.”
Hamlin’s family praised fans while complimenting medical professionals’ efforts, the Bengals, and coach Zac Taylor. “We are incredibly affected by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans throughout the country,” the team said in a statement released Tuesday.
