Brooks’ musical career was inspired by his mother’s singing career, who had a recording contract with Capitol Records in the 1950s. Her son says that if he could only sing with one person, it would be her, even though she died of cancer in 1999.

And, as a fellow parent, I am confident that your children will not feel that way about you until after you have died.” Brooks stated the following in an interview with Linda G. on Kicks 105.5 in Danbury, Connecticut.
“I believe it is your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child is well-fed. They are paying attention, so keep imparting your wisdom on them so that they can navigate life more successfully than you did and make fewer mistakes as a result of some form of guidance that you provided.”
