Quentin said that Uma’s accident was “one of the worst regrets of my life” shortly after Uma’s interview and the tape’s public release.
The director insisted that he only tested the car in one direction before asking Uma to try it in the opposite direction.
He also admitted to making “one of my most heinous mistakes” by failing to notice the road’s turn.
The director, on the other hand, denied Uma’s claims that he persuaded her to board the vehicle. “I didn’t shove her into the car. She had enough faith in me to get in the car with me. He stated that she agreed with him.”
After the web video of the incident surfaced, Kill Bill producer Lawrence Bender responded to Uma’s claims.
“I deeply regret that Uma has suffered such anguish, both physically and emotionally, for all of these years as a result of the accident that occurred on the Kill Bill set,” he said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter.
“I never want to disappoint anyone. The safety of the professionals who work on the films I make is extremely important to me.”
However, he emphasized that there was no “cover-up,” contradicting Uma’s claims.
“I never concealed anything from Uma or anyone else, and I would never have participated in any kind of cover-up,” he said.
Uma’s life was in danger when she crashed on the Kill Bill set in 2018.
The accident’s conditions, according to a SAG-AFTRA union official, “would be a potential safety violation.”
To ensure proper and safe performance, only stunt professionals should perform stunts under the supervision of a stunt coordinator, according to the spokeswoman.
