“You know how I feel in those situations?”
On The View, Liam Neeson discussed his recent “uncomfortable” incident.
The Irish actor, 70, arrived on the ABC talk show to promote his new picture Marlowe, and the panelists joked about Joy Behar’s long-standing obsession with him.
“You talk about him so much,” Ana Navarro, 80, said before Alyssa Farah Griffin quipped to Behar, “Joy wants to get ‘taken’ by you,” referring to Liam Neeson’s famous film.
Later in the segment, the show presented footage of Behar discussing Neeson in previous episodes, after which the actor quipped to her, “Joy, you received the checks, right?” while the audience laughed.
But, in an interview, Neeson conceded that the whole situation was “a little uncomfortable.”
“I was in the dressing room enjoying a cup of tea, turned the TV up, and I thought, well, this will be nice. They’re talking about gun violence in America, and I agree that it’s an issue in America,” he recalled.
“At the break, I go onstage and join the ladies and congratulate them on their discussion.”
“And then our section starts, and it’s just all this Crap with Joy [Behar] and Liam Neeson and having a crush, and I’ve known Whoopi [Goldberg] for years and Joy a little bit, but I just wasn’t impressed. You know how I feel in those situations?” He went on to say.
After the broadcast, Neeson told the outlet he had “a good, cerebral chat” with an attorney and co-panelist Sunny Hostin.
“But then the part is all about this — oof — 13- or 14-year-old crush. It’s just a little awkward,” the actor continued.
Neeson’s interview with Rolling Stone follows a recent Vanity Fair interview in which he discussed his embarrassment at recording intimate sequences.
“To be honest, I can’t look at a sex scene. I feel humiliated,” he explained. “I know they’re choreographed, but I don’t need to see that.”
The Marksman actor’s VF comments followed those of Penn Badgley, who recently made headlines for his decision to stop filming intimacy sequences for his series You.
“I completely agree and support him,” Neeson said of Badgley. “I dislike doing them. I’ve done a lot of sex scenes, and I’d rather leave it to the imagination, especially for the ladies, the actresses.”
