Renee Zellweger has had a number of makeovers over her career, but her most recent is undoubtedly her most startling.

The actor, who plays convicted murderer Pamela Hupp in the miniseries The Thing About Pam, is nearly unrecognizable in the role, and she has opened up about how it feels to be a completely different person on the outside.

Renee, who changed her appearance by utilizing face and body prosthetics, said “It’s simply another tool really, isn’t it, to make the presentation match the narrative?”

“I like it because it makes it easier to transcend when you tell the story on the day it happened. It appeals to me because it provides the sense of being a safe haven.”

Renee claimed that everything was a necessary stage in the process and that it is an important part of her character.

“I like transforming myself because the process is sort of a set of goals that you’re trying to create this space, where you can tell the story, and that’s such a significant part of it,” she remarked.

“And as it begins to come together, you can just check the boxes as you get closer and closer to what it is, to building this location to tell the story. ” It just seems like, I don’t know, you’ve completed what you set out to do as things start to fall into place and become really useful. That’s exactly how it feels.”

Renee reported that after the transformation, she looked in the mirror and chuckled rather than being surprised by what she saw.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” she exclaimed. “I was surprised at what they were able to accomplish, particularly what Arian [Titan, the designer of the prosthesis] was able to accomplish with his team of brilliant minds,” says the author.

“It was mind-boggling to me that they are so creative, and that he built these pieces from nothing just generated them with his imagination, trying to make an approximation that would be acceptable in presenting this story, and being a part of that was really great,” she concluded.

Episodes of The Thing About Pam are now available on Peacock and NBC on Demand.
