Rumer Willis, 34, recently revealed her unconventional plans for preparing for the birth of her first child with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.
The actress discussed her journey on Instagram. Dressed in a white robe, Rumer opened up about her pregnancy as she neared the third trimester.
“Hey folks, as I got closer to my third trimester, I started thinking a lot about pelvic floor work… But I realized how crucial it was to work and stretch, especially because I have an unmedicated birth.”
Rumer mentioned that her midwife and doula stressed the importance of perineal massage. She discovered the Perimom device on Instagram and said it had changed her life.
“I have to say this has been such a game changer and made me feel so much more confident about my ability just to be more surrendered, really relaxed, really find places in your pelvic floor where you’re holding tension and learn how to let those places go, and just prepare myself so I can have an easier birth,” she added.
Rumer hosted a baby shower in Los Angeles last month with her mother, Demi Moore, stepmother Emma Heming, and sisters. Due to his recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis, her father, Bruce Willis, could not attend.
Rumer and Derek announced their pregnancy on Instagram in December with cute black-and-white images.
Scout Willis, Rumer’s sister, spoke about her delight in becoming an aunt.
“I’m desperately excited,” she added, adding that she intends to “wander around Erewhon in Silver Lake believing the kid is mine.”
Scout also stated that she had made a bonnet with bunny ears for her sister’s soon-to-be-born infant.
Rumer has been open about her pregnancy, and she appeared on the Bathroom Chronicles podcast in February 2023 to discuss her experience and how delighted she was to be a mother.
She explained that parenthood has always been her dream: “There was never a question for me that I wanted to be a mom. It’s one of those strange things that I know people have such certainty about, like, ‘Oh, I want to be a musician. I want this.’”
