People who knew Lisa Marie Presley offered their heartfelt condolences after her death. Her ex-husband, Nicolas Cage, paid tribute to her by releasing the following statement to CNN on her behalf: “This is horrible news. Lisa had the loudest laugh of anyone I’d ever met. I’m devastated because she made every room brighter.”
Her ex-husband, Michael Lockwood, also spoke about Presley’s death and how it affected their twins, Harper and Finley. Her children needed her, so Michael hoped for a rapid and thorough recovery. “It’s a shame things didn’t turn out that way,” his lawyer told ET. “Michael’s entire world has changed. His two daughters are currently living with him.”
According to TMZ, Presley died of a heart attack on January 12th at 54.
A few days before, Presley attended the Golden Globes ceremony for Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler. Butler issued a statement expressing his grief and loss after Presley’s death.
Austin Butler was heartbroken when he learned about Lisa Marie Presley’s death. “My heart is destroyed,” he said. “I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be beside her bright light and will forever enjoy the quiet moments we spent,” he said in a statement to People. “Her generosity, love, and sincerity will not be forgotten.”
Butler and Presley became close friends due to her father’s role in “Elvis.” After he finished playing the King, he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about their close friendship. “I didn’t meet Lisa Marie until after the film, so it hit home when I first met her,” he remarked of the role’s significance. “She hugged me crying and simply muttered, “Thank you,” he continued. They became close in Graceland as well. “She escorted me upstairs to Elvis’ bedroom, where we sat on his bed and spoke for hours.”
Given their close relationship and a shared love of Elvis, as well as how he treated Butler’s father, it’s unsurprising that Butler is distraught.
