Don Lemon claims that CNN has fired him.
According to reports, Lemon’s agency informed him of his dismissal.
On Twitter, he added, “I am stunned.” “I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly after 17 years at CNN.”
“I never received any word that I wouldn’t be able to continue with the work I’ve always liked at the network. There are some more significant issues at hand.”
After anchoring NBC Chicago and working as a correspondent for NBC News, Lemon joined CNN in 2006.
He was well-known for criticizing cable television during his stint on CNN and expressing his strong beliefs.
He recently came under fire for remarks he made on the radio regarding Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, after she declared her bid for president in the 2024 election.
In a CNN This Morning segment, he said she “isn’t in her prime.”
“In her 20s, 30s, and possibly 40s, a woman is regarded as being in her prime.”
His remarks sparked an immediate outcry.
CNN responded to Lemon’s tweet regarding his firing by stating that the two “have parted ways.”
“Don will always be a member of the CNN family, and we appreciate all he has done for us over the past 17 years,” the network said. “We wish him well and will support him in his endeavors in the future.”
