Julia Wendell, a young Polish woman who believes she is Madeleine McCann, appeared on Dr. Phil to explore her claims that she is the missing British girl.
The 21-year-old Polish woman, who was brought to the United States by her attorney, Dr. Fia Johansson, after receiving death threats, met with the TV personality and addressed numerous significant parallels that led her to feel she could be Maddie.
On the broadcast, they reviewed her iris deformity, demonstrating that the pair had the same marks, with Julia saying, “It’s a little faded now, but yes.” They also show that the pair share the same dimple, with Dr. Phil saying, “You look a lot like her from those years.”
Julia also revealed that she looked a lot like Maddie as a teenager, with Dr. Phil saying, “Alright, ok, so you think you look a lot like her at those ages and have an iris defect the same as she did,” before continuing.
“Another issue is my facial expression. When I laugh, my eyes close a little, like in the lower picture on the row of the screen, the Madeleine picture, and when I laugh, I have some pictures from my teenage years, and [I have] the same look.”
Julia said that her mother “refused” to divulge any information from her early life when Dr. Phil questioned her about her Polish parents.
“She said she gave birth to me but refused to offer me any proof… When I requested DNA and images from her pregnancy before this incident, my mother refused; she didn’t want to.”
One Dr. Phil viewer wrote, “This is crazy. The private investigator relishes every minute of being in the spotlight. Who knows if she even honestly believes this child.” At the same time, another added, “Whatever she is, she needs to feel protected and loved. I pray she gets the care she needs!”
“This whole issue has been turned into a global project/drama. Why can’t they conduct a quick DNA test and be done with it without bringing extra grief to the McCann family?” a third individual wrote.
