Ed Sheeran, the popular musician, has been busy behind the scenes with a docuseries, which is to be released on May 2nd. “The Sum Of It All” tucks into the details of Ed’s life and his career. Additionally, he opens up about the health scares his wife went through while pregnant with their second child. The first trailer of the docuseries was recently released. Sheeran is seen crying as he opens up about the effect his wife’s health has on his own mental health.
Ed Sheeran’s Family
Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn grew up together in Ed’s hometown of Sheffield, England. However, their relationship only became romantic after they reunited in 2015. They managed to keep most part of their relationship out of the spotlight, but fans still celebrate their love. In 2017, they got engaged, and one year later, they were married secretly. In 2020, Cherry and Ed Sheeran welcomed their first child into their family. He posted a picture on Instagram of the healthy delivery of Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
The doctors had found a tumor in Cherry while she was six months pregnant with their second daughter. This caused a lot of stress and anxiety in them both. Because she was pregnant, the doctors could not treat her for the tumor until she gave birth in May 2022. When Jupiter was born, Ed posted about it on Instagram. But, he left his fans hanging in terms of Cherry’s health.
The Sum Of it All
A few months before his wife’s health worsened, his best friend and career launcher, Jamal Edwards, suffered cardiac arrest after a night of cocaine and drinking. He died suddenly, ripping the rug out from beneath Ed Sheeran. The first episode of The Sum of it All focuses on the simultaneity of his death and the struggles he and his wife endured with her tumor. In the trailer, Ed says: “The loss just took over my life.”
Disney approached Ed Sheeran with a proposal to create a docuseries about The Shape of You artist’s life and career. It touches base on his rise to fame, and the journey he went on to become the well-loved pop star he is today. Opening up about his personal life is not an easy feat for Ed, as he considered himself a “guarded” person. “I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting,” Sheeran said in a statement. “Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it.”
“Life is Unpredictable”
The trailer of the docuseries gives hints to a scene where Ed Sheeran visibly breaks down over the loss he was experiencing along with the stress of cherry’s health. “In this docu-series, we’re going to reveal a side of Ed Sheeran that fans have never seen before,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “Together with Fulwell 73, we’ve created something truly authentic and personal that will not only entertain audiences but also inspire them to dream big and pursue their passions.“
The trailer ends with a voice over of Edd Sheeran saying: “Life is unpredictable. Plans can change really quickly.” He finally says: “And then fireworks and then kissing and then Disney!“
