In 2022, Bruce Willis’ family, including ex-wife Demi Moore, announced that the legendary actor had been diagnosed with aphasia.
The “Die Hard” star’s family updated fans in February, explaining that Willis acquired a more specific diagnosis – frontotemporal dementia, or FTD – a condition affecting one’s capacity to speak.
Unlike Alzheimer’s, FTD is characterized by changes in personality, language, and mobility rather than memory loss. It likewise has no cure and an average life expectancy of seven to thirteen years.
Given the apparent seriousness of Willis’ illness, it was not surprising when a source recently claimed that Moore had moved in to help his current wife, Emma Heming, care for him.
Moore and Willis, after all, had been the epitome of healthy co-parenting for decades, with Willis even quarantining with Moore — rather than Hemming — during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A family medical emergency momentarily stopped Heming’s preparations to quarantine with them. “Demi has moved in, and she is not leaving until the very end,” a source informed of Moore’s (alleged) current residence.
Heming became aware of the “leaked” information and quickly corrected the source on social media.
Emma Heming continues to use social media to advocate for her husband, Bruce Willis, and others suffering from dementia.
She slammed a headline alleging, “Demi Moore ‘Moved In’ With Ex Bruce Willis & His Wife To Help Care For Him Following Heartbreaking Dementia Diagnosis: Source” in an Instagram Story on March 8. Below, the former model added, “Let’s get this out of the way. This is dumb. Please stop.”
On March 7, Heming responded to people who accused her of exploiting Willis’ situation for “five minutes” of fame. She joked in an Instagram video that the trolls’ attention was “wonderful because it means you’re listening” and that she would “always speak for my husband.”
Heming continued by praising other carers for persons suffering from frontotemporal dementia “I’m going to channel my grief, anger, and despair into doing something good. So watch this space because I didn’t come to play.”
After paparazzi photographed Willis drinking coffee with a companion, Heming pleaded with them to leave Willis alone in a second post. Heming told the paparazzi in the video, “I know this is your job, but maybe just keep your space. Please don’t yell at my husband in the video… the ‘woo-hoo’ing and ‘yippy-ki-yays’… OK?”
