Sylvester Stallone has said that when filming “Rocky IV,” he was exposed to some heavy blows by Dolph Lundgren and had to be taken to the hospital.
Sylvester Stallone states in a documentary about the film’s creation that can be accessed on the actor’s YouTube channel, “He pulverized me.” “Although I didn’t notice it at the time, I started to feel some tightness in my chest later that night.”
Stallone compared the injury to what happens when your chest is thrown against the steering wheel of a car after an accident.
“They thought I was going to be talking to angels when my blood pressure went up to 260,” he stated.
According to the actor, he was flown from Canada to the intensive care unit at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, where he stayed for four days. He stated he was taken in a “low altitude airplane.”
“I’m in ICU, and the only other people here are nuns,” he claimed. “I was therefore compelled to return to the arena and finish the fight.”
According to Stallone, the hit to the chest delivered by Lundgren while playing the big Soviet fighter Ivan Drago is included in the film.
“How could you possible rule that out?” according to Stallone.
The popular “Rocky” franchise continues with “Rocky IV,” starring Sylvester Stallone as the tough combatant Rocky Balboa. In the fourth film, he has already proven himself worthy of the title of world boxing champion, and after discovering that his friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) has been killed by Drago, he rushes to the Soviet Union to face him.
