For many people, Christmas is a time for reflection and gratitude; it’s a time to appreciate what you have and to remind yourself to be grateful for what you have rather than resentful of what you don’t.
As a result, it should come as no surprise that the internet, particularly social media, is flooded with uplifting posts about families and boldly displaying the aspects of people’s lives they are most proud of.
I enjoy taking a yearly family portrait with my loved ones in front of the tree. If nothing else, it will serve as a memento for years to come, when I can look back and grin at a past that is becoming increasingly difficult for me to recall.
Unsurprisingly, many celebrities shared details about their holiday celebrations on social media in various posts.
Few, however, were able to warm our hearts the way Hilary Swank did.
The 48-year-old well-known actress was overjoyed as she expressed eternal gratitude for the unborn children growing inside her.
Swank posted an Instagram photo of herself next to her Christmas tree wearing festive red and white striped pajamas.
Swank announced her pregnancy with twins in October. She and her husband, Philip Schneider, are said to have twins, so that part of her announcement was unremarkable.
She was the focus of everyone’s attention, which was perhaps unfortunate. Swank is older than the average age at which women can hope to conceive, at 48, and every time a female celebrity conceives in her 40s, the debate over what age is “acceptable” to stop trying to have children (we know, it’s crazy) resurfaces.
Swank, on the other hand, is understandably overjoyed to be expecting. Her due date also coincides with her father’s birthday.
The actress recently discussed the amazing coincidence on The Drew Barrymore Show.
“You just announced a year ago that your father died, and this miracle is happening,” Barrymore said.
“And they’re due on his birthday,” Hilary said.
Swank also said on Live with Kelly and Ryan: “This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time, and my next thing is I’m going to be a mom,” she stated.
The 48-year-old woman told Extra TV that becoming an “older” mother was simply a matter of timing.
“I was working and not in the right relationship until… four years ago, and all the elements had to come together and be right,” she explained.
“It’s just something I thought about as a young girl,” she later added. It’s something I’d been thinking about, so it’s nice to be here and just be pregnant.”
The Oscar winner admitted that she is most excited about the twins’ expected arrival on a day that is already special to her.
“It’s lovely,” she said. “It’s all coming together, and my dad was one of my favorite people in the world, so it’s kind of like… this life tribute with them being born on this birthday.”
I’m not sure how you feel, but I’m overjoyed for Hilary Swank. We want her always to look her best. Have fun being a mother!
