Jon Bon Jovi was the first to pay respect to bandmate Alec John Such, who died at 70. The singer-songwriter stated the bassist was “integral to the band’s development” before adding that he will be missed “dearly.”
With such a tremendous career, the 60-year-old Bon Jovi gives tribute to many people who helped him gain popularity. Another is his wife, Dorthea Hurley, whom he describes as “phenomenal” in supporting his mental health.
The 60-year-old frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi has previously spoken up about his struggles with mental health. For three years, beginning around 2013, the vocalist felt the “weight of the world” on his shoulders as guitarist Richie Sambora abruptly departed the band after 30 years. A feud with the record label erupted. Hurley, whom he met while they were still in high school, became a constant in his life.
“That was a very difficult moment that I haven’t really recovered from, but my wife has been fantastic,” Bon Jovi said in a 2016 interview.
“I’m not sure how I would have survived without her.”
This was not the first time Bon Jovi struggled with his mental health, despite the assistance of his beloved wife. At the height of his career, the star, like many others who confront the pressures of fame and money, was fatigued and had a nervous breakdown.
Due to his suffering while traveling on the Pacific Coast Highway to see a psychotherapist in 1991, the Livin’ on a Prayer singer considered jumping out of the moving automobile.
“I am not ready to disclose it in full, but it was not pretty,” the star said when asked why things became so terrible and how they compared to more current problems.
“But, I’m working on it. In retrospect, it was similar to that time.”
“At the time, I discovered acting, which gave me a release. This time, there was no release, but there were just as many obstacles.”
Recently, before one of his gigs in the United States, the singer explained how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted his mental health.
