According to a recent article, Jack Nicholson’s friends are worried about the aging actor’s rising seclusion.
An unnamed insider close to the 85-year-old actor claims he is sequestered at his opulent Mulholland Drive property in Los Angeles because “he doesn’t want to face reality anymore.”
The A-lister last appeared publicly more than a year ago, in October 2021, at a LA Lakers game with his 30-year-old son Ray.
After the infamous womanizer’s final Lakers game in January 2020 amid rumors of his failing health, he made another appearance more than a year later.
The source revealed in an interview with RadarOnline that those close to the actor, who has six children by five different women but has only been married once, worry that he will pass as a recluse like his late friend, the renowned Marlon Brando.
The insider said, referring to the star’s 30-year-old son with actress Rebecca Broussard, “Jack’s in touch with certain relatives – especially Ray, his protégé, who he’s so proud of – but his socializing days are long gone.”
Ray, the actor’s youngest child, was spotted sitting beside his father during his past two Lakers games.
The sources discussed Nicholson’s actions that have alarmed them, comparing the once-legendary lothario’s seclusion to Brando’s tragic final years as a leading man who gained weight after settling in Tahiti decades before his death at 80 in 2004.
According to the source, Jack’s pals are making analogies to Brando because he passed away practically alone after living such a colorful life.
The insider continued, “His kids will visit, but they’re his only connection to the outside world.” It appears he no longer wants to confront reality, which is just terrible.
Brando and Nicholson had a reputation for being ferocious womanizers and troublemakers in the 1970s when cohabitating on Mulholland Drive with Warren Beatty.
After their highly publicized antics, the street was christened “Bad Boy Drive”; Nicholson reportedly had an open house out of the property he allegedly purchased with the money from the drug-fueled, generation-defining film Easy Rider.
Insiders told Express in 2009 that Nicholson took a novel approach to housewarming, spending three months “walking around completely naked from dawn until sunset whether he had visitors or not.”
According to the insiders’ testimonies, Nicholson’s behavior toward visitors while living in the same home could not have altered more drastically.
Worsening matters, according to sources, are suspicions that the actor’s health is declining. Last year, close pals told Radar that they thought the actor might have dementia and that his son Ray and older sister Lorraine have been “looking after him.”
“Jack and I have been friends for a long time, but he no longer leaves his house…” In September 2021, a friend of the three-time Academy Award winner revealed, “I think his son and daughter are looking after him now.”
The acquaintance continued, “The Mulholland Drive neighborhood is pretty tight-knit, and they are all worried about him,” noting that “physically he is fine – but his mind is gone.”
The insider said, “It’s really sad to see such a super-talented actor like Jack go out this way.”
The actor continues to reside in his imposing estate, which has been his home for many years and has 3,303 square feet, four bedrooms, three baths, a pool, and a swimming pool. The house has been the location of many of Nicholson’s well-publicized affairs since the 1970s.
Actresses and models like Michelle Phillips, Bebe Buell, Lara Flynn Boyle, Anjelica Huston, and Rebecca Broussard have been Nicholson’s lovers.
From 1962 to 1968, he married Sandra Knight for six years; she characterized their union as “very beautiful and sweet.”
However, his relationship with Addams Family actress Angelica Huston was far more turbulent, and he frequently cheated on her.
After 16 years, everything ended in 1989 when he revealed at dinner that Broussard was expecting his child.
Nicholson claims in comments obtained by Closer that he was “annihilated emotionally” and adds, “I’m childish, and I did make a mistake.”
According to the magazine, Nicholson sleeps until 1 p.m., drinks milk to calm his stomach, plays golf, and visits the house next door where he keeps his art collection.
He mainly purchased the neighboring Marlon Brando-era home on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles so he wouldn’t have to deal with any neighbors.
According to a source, his family had been pressuring him to sell the homes so that he could downsize and move to a “more manageable place in Beverly Hills.”
While the father-son duo has often watched basketball games together, Jack and Ray have a longstanding habit of watching the LA Lakers. The actor has, however, been conspicuously missing from his usual courtside position during the previous 12 months.
Jack has supported the Los Angeles Lakers basketball club for many years despite their recent losing seasons.
When the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013, he infamously left the team with Adam Sandler.
Since his last movie, How Do You Know, in 2010, Jack has lived a more laid-back lifestyle and taken up painting as a pastime.
