A stunning story develops as we delve into the background of Juliane Lukambo, a recent high school graduate from Ohio. Her path, including a childhood spent as a refugee in Uganda, has resulted in an incredible $250,000 scholarship.
The Columbus City Schools recently issued a news release celebrating Lukambo’s outstanding accomplishments. “Throughout these years, I dedicated myself to college classes and involvement, and now these scholarships serve as recognition of my efforts,” she said of her accomplishments.
The reward is immensely satisfying.” After escaping the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lukambo’s family sought safety in Uganda for a decade. During this time, she encountered many life obstacles in refugee camps.
When asked about her experiences, Lukambo told a local newspaper that the move to a foreign country proved difficult upon their arrival in the United States.
When she started fifth grade at Valley Forge Elementary School, she stated honestly, “Stepping foot in a foreign land like the United States leaves you in a state of anticipation.”
Nonetheless, her tenacious spirit propelled her to participate in many activities throughout middle and high school. According to the district, Lukambo outperformed her peers in every pursuit she pursued, from STEM Club and sports to demonstrating her bowling prowess.
She not only received consistently high grades, but she also pursued notable internships. Despite her academic load at Northland High School, Lukambo attended classes at adjacent universities.
Lukambo is an inspiring figure who pushes others to take risks and venture beyond their comfort zones. She is adamant that her unwavering passion and achievements result from pushing boundaries.
Lukambo, elected valedictorian of her graduating class, has set her sights on the University of Dayton, where she hopes to study computer technology.
Opening out about her arduous journey, Lukambo acknowledged the enormous challenges she experienced along the way. Nonetheless, she is appreciative and highly proud of the road she has taken.
