Lance Reddick, who died suddenly at 60, was remembered by Keanu Reeves and his co-stars.
Reddick, who co-starred with Reeves in the John Wick film franchise, was found dead at his studio City, Los Angeles home on Friday (17 March).
According to the actor’s publicist, he died of natural causes.
Reddick was most recognized for his portrayal of steely Baltimore police lieutenant Cederic Daniels in the popular HBO drama The Wire and his appearance as Charon in John Wick.
His other notable works include Fringe, Bosch, and Oz, and he has appeared in over a dozen video games.
Reeves made a joint statement with Chad Stahelski, director of the next John Wick: Chapter Four.
“We are grieved and heartbroken to learn of the death of our cherished friend and colleague Lance Reddick.” They described him as “the consummate professional and a joy to deal with.”
“Our hearts go out to his wife, Stephanie, children, family, and friends. We dedicate this film to his cherished memory. We’ll miss him terribly.”
“Consummate professional, devoted collaborator, wonderful and sweet man, faithful friend,” tweeted David Simon, creator of The Wire, on Twitter. “I could continue, but I won’t. This is heartbreaking. And much, far too soon.”
Some of Reddick’s former Wire co-stars, including Wendell Pierce, who played “Bunk” Mooreland, and Isiah Whitlock Jr., who portrayed Clay Davis, paid respect to the late actor.

“I am shocked and saddened by the news that Lance Reddick has died,” Whitlock wrote. It’s heartbreaking. RIP, my friend. You will be sorely missed.”
