Ned Eisenberg, who appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, died on Sunday after a battle with two types of cancer.
Mariska Hargitay is mourning the death of her co-star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ned Eisenberg.
Following his death, the actress, 57, paid tribute to her late colleague on Instagram on Wednesday.
“My heart is so full of pain over the passing of our darling, dear Ned Eisenberg,” she said at the start of her touching message. “Such a light and how much affection. And such a first-rate performer, who pales compared to him as a first-rate human being.”
“We shall remember him always with his brilliant, mischievous smile and wide-open heart,” she continued. “We love and miss you, Ned.”
In addition to the remark, Hargitay shared a photo of herself smiling while wearing a suit. “That is a sad day in the history of SVU, he was a really good lawyer,” she said in the description.
According to his agents, Eisenberg died at his home in New York.
Before his death, the actor suffered from two types of cancer: cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. Patricia Eisenberg, Eisenberg’s wife, stated her husband “bravely fought” his cancer diagnosis.
“He was targeted by two unusual assassins – cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma,” she explained. “He heroically fought the cancers in seclusion for two years while continuing to work in show business to guarantee that his medical coverage compensated for himself and his family.”
Eisenberg is survived by the couple’s son, Lino, and his wife.
Eisenberg’s friend and former manager, Craig Dorfman, said after his death that Eisenberg “was one of the kindest and most gifted performers with whom I ever worked,” adding, “He will be missed.”
The New York native was a recurring character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Roger Kressler, appearing on the show for two decades between 1999 and 2019.
Born in the Bronx, Eisenberg made his stage debut in Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs. He went on to play in a Broadway production of The Green Bird, among other things.
His most recent guest and recurrent TV appearances and roles include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mare of Easttown, Little Voice, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, 30 Rock, and White Collar. Other prominent film roles include Million Dollar Baby, Flags of Our Fathers, Limitless, and Last Man Standing.
