Aerosmith has been forced to cancel two Las Vegas residency shows because frontman Steven Tyler is recovering from an unidentified ailment.
The band explained that the “Dream On” frontman, who is 74 years old, needed further rest, so they canceled the second show of their Deuces Are Wild tour, which was set for Monday night at the Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM.
Tyler noted, “On my doctor’s advice, I’m taking more time to rest. We would rather be on stage performing in front of our most committed fans than anywhere else.”
As the final portion of their letter was released on social media, the band apologized to their devoted fans.
The announcement comes just a few days after Aerosmith canceled their Friday night show, claiming it was canceled “due to Steven feeling sick and unable to perform.” The show was canceled “with great disappointment.” Aerosmith announced that the rocker will be fully recovered for Monday’s performance.
This band’s scheduled gigs on Thursday and Sunday of this week are still scheduled place.
Aerosmith’s residency began in September, three months after its intended launch date was pushed back to allow Tyler to seek treatment for substance abuse. Originally, the residency was supposed to start in May.
Tyler had a relapse of his disease after undergoing foot surgery, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers reported in May.
At the time, Aerosmith issued a statement on social media saying, “As many of you know, our loving brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years.” “After having foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management while the procedure was being performed, he recently relapsed and willingly entered a treatment program to focus on his health and recovery.”
The celebrity completed his treatment at the rehabilitation clinic in July, and a spokeswoman indicated that he was “doing incredibly well and looking forward to being back on stage.”
