Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, never fails to honor the memory of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
During a recent three-day tour of Nigeria with her husband Prince Harry, Meghan wore a diamond cross pendant that once belonged to the beloved Princess of Wales.
The necklace, a gift from Harry, came from Diana’s private collection. It is touching to see Meghan pay homage to Princess Diana through her fashion choices and cherished jewelry pieces.
One of the necklaces Meghan wore during the trip was a gold collar necklace, reminiscent of the one Princess Diana wore during her visit to Nigeria in 1991. Meghan has also been seen wearing Princess Diana’s gold Cartier Tank Française watch, which has become one of her favorite accessories.
Princess Diana had a special request for her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She wrote a letter to each of them, asking them to pass on her jewelry to their future wives.
“I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it,” Princess Diana reportedly stated in the letters.
Harry fulfilled his mother’s wishes by designing Meghan’s engagement ring with diamonds from Diana’s collection. The ring features yellow gold, Meghan’s favorite, and a main stone sourced from Botswana, with smaller diamonds on either side from Diana’s jewelry collection.
The gesture of wearing Princess Diana’s jewelry and incorporating it into her own style shows Meghan’s deep respect and love for her late mother-in-law. It is heartwarming to see Meghan continually honor Princess Diana’s memory in such a meaningful way.
