In recent months, Barron Trump has been entirely focused on graduating high school from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. His mother, Melania Trump, has been a great support, but while the school has taken up much of his time, it must have been impossible for him not to read about his father’s lawsuits.
Barron Trump is graduating on May 17, and at first, even though he is in court, it looked like his father would attend. New reports suggest that Donald might skip his son’s graduation, but moving forward, there seemed to be a chance that the 18-year-old could head into politics.
Now, Melania Trump has broken her silence about her son, giving some insight into what his near future will look like.
Barron Trump
Barron Trump was only ten years old when his father, Donald Trump, was elected President of the United States.
When Donald Trump was elected president, Melania decided that she and Barron would stay in New York City for about six months so he could finish up his school year.
“It’s Melania who wants to stay. She doesn’t want to take Barron out of school,” an unnamed source told the New York Daily News. “She’s concerned that he won’t have the same relationship with new teachers that he has at Columbia Prep.”
When he finished school in “The Big Apple,” Barron and his mother headed for the White House. Barron became the first boy to live in the White House since JFK Jr.
Four years later, after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, the Trump family left Washington and settled at their Palm Beach, Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
After finishing school in Washington, Barron Trump enrolled at the private school Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. There have been very few reports about his progress at the school. But now, the son of the former president is set to graduate.
On May 17, Barron Trump is graduating and saying goodbye to Oxbridge Academy. As Donald Trump is in the middle of his hush-money trial, the former president must attend all its proceedings.
Donald Trump to attend his son’s high school graduation
About a month ago, after leaving the court, Trump attacked Judge Juan Marchan, claiming he wouldn’t let him attend Barron’s graduation.
“It looks like the judge will not let me go to the graduation of my son, who’s worked very, very hard, and he is a great student,” Trump stated. “It looks like the judge isn’t going to allow me to escape this scam. It’s a scam trial.”
But was that really true? As per NY Mag, Judge Merchan never banned Trump from attending his son’s high school graduation. To make things clear, the judge later granted the former president’s request – and Trump will be in attendance to congratulate his youngest son.
While graduating from high school is undoubtedly a big deal, Donald Trump has many other things on his mind—trials, court dates, and lawsuits—and a presidential election.
Therefore, Trump will not stay the entire day with his son, celebrating his graduation. The Minnesota Republican Party announced that Donald Trump will headline its annual Lincoln Reagan dinner later the same night.
As a Trump family member, he will undoubtedly begin studying at college afterward, and according to the New York Times, Melania and Donald have been looking at colleges in New York and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Donald and his children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Tiffany Trump, have all graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. However, Barron Trump’s father may not be the most popular student graduating from Wharton.
Where will Barron Trump go to school?
In 2016, the Associated Press reported that school officials don’t like talking about the former president, so much so that a former pro-Trump student group previously had to be shut down.
While the University of Pennsylvania’s bookstore has a significant number of books written by its alums, there is only one copy of Trump’s 1987 book The Art of the Deal.
“Perhaps the most important thing I learned at Wharton was not to be overly impressed by academic credentials… That degree doesn’t prove very much,” he wrote in The Art of the Deal.
Which school he will attend has yet to be decided. However, Barron Trump appears to have already been handed a more significant public role within his family, according to Melania’s former senior aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff.
Behind the walls of the private school Oxbridge Academy and his home at Mar-a-Lago, Barron Trump has been protected from both the public and the media. But when he attends college, things will be pretty different.
Not only because it is more public but also because he will be 18 and can make his own decisions entirely differently.
Meanwhile, a PR expert has now spoken out about Barron’s potential future plans to be in the spotlight like the rest of the Trump family. But the son of the former president might not have one.
Expert claims Barron will prefer a quiet life outside the spotlight
Speaking to The List, Eden Gillott, crisis management expert, claims that Barron would prefer a quieter life like his mother’s rather than Donald’s love for being in the spotlight.
“Barron will most likely opt for Melania’s elegance of privacy rather than his father’s love of the spotlight. This selective visibility could define his persona, underscoring the sophistication of leading a life of quiet dignity amidst a world that often confuses noise with influence,” she said.
Every time Barron has been seen in public, the media has covered him extensively. The attention he has not chosen could actually be turned to his advantage, Gilliott says.
“Barron has a unique opportunity to capitalize on this increased visibility to subtly shape his own narrative. While his father’s potential presidency could heighten public interest, Barron could use this moment not for direct engagement, but as a chance to reinforce his personal brand of quiet distinction,” she claimed.
Where Barron Trump will enroll in the fall is unknown. While he could follow in his father’s footsteps and head into the Trump family company, politics is, of course, another career close to mind.
Just days ago, the first possible proof of that was announced.
Melania Trump says Barron Trump won’t be a delegate at the Republican National Convention
Last week, Barron Trump was picked by the Republican Party of Florida as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, according to a list of delegates, as per NBC News.
“We have a great delegation of grassroots leaders, elected officials and even Trump family members,” Florida GOP chairman Evan Power said. “Florida is continuing to have a great convention team, but more importantly we are preparing to win Florida and win it big.”
Several Trump family members, including Donald Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, will serve as delegates for Florida, where their father officially resides and votes.
As a delegate, Barron would stand on the convention floor, joining the Florida delegation in formally nominating his father.
Becoming one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention would’ve been Barron’s highest-profile political role. However, he has other plans.
Melania Trump’s office broke the silence in a statement and said Barron had declined the invite.
“While Barron is honoured to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” a spokeswoman for Melania Trump said in a statement.
“Barron’s appearance is truly monumental”
Barron Trump is rarely seen in public. In January, he joined his family for his grandmother’s funeral and Melania’s mother, Amalija.
For last year’s Trump family Christmas photo, Barron Trump posed with his father, three siblings, and other family members in a rare photo.
According to Melania’s former senior aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Barron’s appearance in the picture was “truly monumental,” as she claimed her “strategic” mom prepares him for the future.
“Melania’s decision to include Barron in this family activity, even if she couldn’t be there herself, might be a significant turning point, potentially fostering a new level of support between Melania and Donald,” she told the New York Post.
“Barron’s appearance is truly monumental and shows Donald and Melania are in lockstep with one another. I believe we will be seeing more of him now. Nothing happens by chance with Melania.”
