Mindy Kaling has undergone a significant metamorphosis in the previous several years, thanks to a lifestyle change that culminated in a 40-pound weight loss.
The 44-year-old is feeling better than ever after boasting in her 2011 memoir, ‘Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?’ that she would be “chubby for life” – but not everyone shares her enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle. Mindy has encountered backlash for her slimmer appearance, with some admirers wondering if she used the diabetes medication Ozempic to slim down.
Mindy had never addressed the topic, but in a new interview with Allure, The Office star was quick to shut down weight talk after being asked to reply to fans who said “they’ve lost an ally” in her due to her decreasing physique.
“It’s not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it’s analyzed,” she admitted. “So, I’m just not going to get into it because it, unfortunately, takes over the conversation and people take it so personally.”
Back in May, the actress described the attention she received for her bodily makeover as “flattering,” although she admits it may be overwhelming. “I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is something I haven’t been able to say in my entire life,” she told People. “I’m feeling great.”
“I know people are very interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it’s flattering, but it can also be a little much at times, so I don’t try to tune it in too much. The truth is that I spend a lot of time and effort trying to stay healthy.”
Mindy first drew notice to her slimmer figure when she posted a photo of herself in a stunning white gown in December 2022 – and she’s since given details about her healthier lifestyle. Her weight loss techniques include running or trekking 20 kilometers each week and weightlifting with a trainer. “It’s a really big commitment,” she told the publication.
“It’s hard with two kids that I wake up really early and I fit it in — and I basically live in workout clothes so I can get it in, get an extra mile in,” she continued, referring to her two-year-old son Spencer Avu and her five-year-old daughter Katherine ‘Kit’ Swati.
“I just tell myself I have to do 20 miles of hiking or running per week. And so that’s been quite beneficial to me,” she continued.
Mindy said to Today in May that while she will “never stop being a foodie,” she has learned to make modifications to her diet and stop viewing exercise as a “punishment.” “I’ll never be someone who can live on spinach and salmon every day.” “I’m just trying moderation for the first time in my life, and I love it,” she explained.
