In 2015, a 6-year-old boy from Grants Pass, Oregon, was late for school. Hunter’s mother, Nicole, knew his family would likely have to be incarcerated because of automobile issues.
As a result, Nicole paid a visit to his school during lunch. She wanted to check in on him to see how he was, but she got much more than she bargained for.
Rather than seeing Hunter in detention, Nicole witnessed her son being subjected to what many would consider a public humiliation. It suffices to say that she was dissatisfied.
Nicole arrived at the school and discovered Hunter sitting alone on a chair. A partition was built before the 6-year-old’s face to prevent him from seeing or speaking with anyone else. Hunter sat in tears, holding a cup with the letter “D” on it. (for detention).
Nicole was enraged at how the school handled her kid, as any mother would be. Hunter’s wrath was heightened because she rarely arrived late to school and hadn’t been late enough that day to make up any work.
Nicole took a picture of Hunter in the cafeteria, knowing she had to act. She later posted about it on social media.
Others in Grants Pass decided to help when Nicole’s photo went viral. They determined that Hunter would never be late for school again.
Nicole and her family, which included Marc, came to Kelly’s Automotive Service a few days later, expecting their car to be deemed beyond repair. Instead, they were handed the keys to a Chrysler van due to their community’s efforts.
Grants Pass people demonstrated that where there is love, there is always hope by executing a deed of kindness that will tremendously aid Nicole and her family.
