Cancel culture. We’re all familiar with the phrase. What, though, does it imply for earlier events? Consider the 2004 movie White Girls, which Marlon Wayans directed.
Would he have been able to release the same movie in 2023, in your opinion? This is a legitimate question in a society that looks for any justification to find something objectionable to one group or another.
Marlon Wayans has risen against “cancel culture” as a result.
Marlon discussed the entire movement and emphasized that despite being in danger in a time when everything objectionable is promptly denounced, films like “White Chicks” are more important than ever.
“They are needed,” Wayans declared. “I don’t know what planet we’re on where you believe people shouldn’t laugh and should be canceled and restricted. Tragically, society has gotten to the point where we can no longer laugh.”
“I ain’t listening to this stupid generation,” Wayans continued. “These executives and these scared-ass guys are not the people I am listening to. You all do as you please. Great. I’ll continue to tell jokes in the same manner. And get on board if you want to make some money. And if not, I’ll find a method to complete it independently. I’m aware of my audience. Every weekend, my audience attends my shows and always leaves smiling and feeling terrific.” Wayans has always told the worst jokes the best way; that’s one thing about us.
He said, “You know who loves ‘White Chicks’ the most? White females. That is how you can tell if a movie is good. A funny joke works when the target audience laughs the loudest. And it’s wonderful that we all have the same chances to commit crimes. It was a wonderful examination of gender, ethnicity, and pop culture handled delicately so everyone could laugh. And I believe that continues to make it a cult favorite today.”
Pariah Ferguson from Stranger Things co-stars alongside the White Chicks actress. Before filming began, he advised her to watch the FBI movie to familiarize her with the philosophy and storyline. He insisted that he would continue to tell jokes in the manner he desired. Wayans added that if you believe that people don’t need to laugh and that they should be repressed and silenced, I don’t know what planet we’re on. “Thank you for doing me that favor if a joke is going to get me fired.”
“I am aware of my audience.” Marlon disclosed on Instagram in 2021 that he and his brother came up with the idea for the movie White Chicks after seeing a magazine cover featuring Paris and Nicky Hilton. “One thing about the Wayans, we’ve always told the worst joke the best way,” Marlon said.
He recalled the incident in an Instagram caption, writing, “Funny story one day my brother Shawn calls me at 3 a.m. saying ‘Marlon we should play white chicks.’” The statement was placed next to a picture of him and Paris taken on Wednesday at FOX’s Tubi & TikTok Live Long-Form Reunion event in Los Angeles. Marlon, 48, said, “he said we should play gurls like this.”
“I got it right away. They were enormous and the starting point for pop culture parody. We made the movie with excellent intentions to commemorate a memorable period in each of our lives,” Marlon stated. “So I’d want to thank Paris and Nicky for serving as my muses. I adore love.” “When we do #whitechicks2,” the actor said, “let’s go shopping.”
