Rihanna is paying tribute to her cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, who died unexpectedly.
Fenty founder Rihanna, 33, paid tribute to her cousin Alleyne on Sunday by posting a series of photographs to her Instagram account. Alleyne’s memories are depicted in each shot.
“Miss you and dat smile cuz. #Tavon,” she captioned the photo. Fans and friends expressed their condolences for the singer’s loss in the comments section of the artist’s Instagram post, expressing their love and prayers.
Alleyne was slain at St. Michael, near his home in Barbados, at roughly 7 p.m., according to the Royal Barbados Police Force, while much remains unknown about how he was murdered. After firing rounds, the suspect fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended.
It is now unknown whether Alleyne was the planned target of the shooting or if it was entirely random. He was only 21 years old when he died from injuries he sustained in a local hospital. In the hours before his death, he celebrated the holidays with other family members, including Rihanna.
The artist first revealed Alleyne’s death shortly after it occurred, publishing some photographs with him and writing the following message: “Goodbye, cousin… I still can’t believe I was cradling you in my arms only the night before. I would never have thought that was the last time I would feel the warmth of your body!!! “I will always love you, man!” She ended the message with a rallying call and the hashtag #EndGunViolence in the text.
Alleyne’s last internet activity before passing away was a post marking Rihanna’s birthday. In it, he wished his “favorite cousin” a happy birthday and expressed his undying affection for her. “Every day we are glad to have you in our lives,” he wrote in the letter. “We wish you a happy birthday, cousin; we love you. The mere presence of you in my life gives me nothing but pleasure and contentment. I want all of your aspirations and dreams to come true for my favorite cousin. I adore you and hope there are many more to come!”
