Riley Keough is “upset” that Priscilla Presley is questioning Lisa Marie Presley’s confidence. Riley believes that Priscilla’s objection to the late Lisa Marie’s will violates “her mom’s desires,” according to an ET source.
Riley wants to keep the family together and preserve Lisa Marie’s legacy, according to the source, but she believes her grandmother’s actions further divide the family. She is disappointed because she wishes to be friends with Priscilla, but they are not close.
Lisa Marie and Priscilla “did not have a healthy or close connection” before Lisa died, according to the source, and their relationship was “extremely problematic.”
“Lisa Marie was struggling,” an insider said, “and it put a strain on her relationship with her mother.” “Priscilla Marie always seemed to be trying to control Lisa Marie.”
According to the source, Lisa Marie “always intended for her children to inherit her trust” in light of this. Lisa Marie also raised Benjamin, who passed away in July 2020.
The late singer’s “children meant the world to her, and she would do anything for them,” according to the insider, “Lisa always wanted Riley and Benjamin to be the beneficiaries of the trust, and that was no secret.”
Following Lisa Marie’s death on Jan. 12, her representative informed ET that her three children Riley, 33, and twins Harper and Finley, 14, would inherit Graceland, Elvis Presley’s former home.
In 2016, Riley and Benjamin were revealed to be co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s trust. On the other hand, Riley’s appointment is being challenged by Priscilla because “there are many difficulties surrounding” it, she claims.
Despite the legal dispute, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, spoke out in support of Riley continuing to serve as a trustee in the wake of Lisa Marie’s death.
“When Elvis died, he left everything to his young daughter. He did so, knowing she would be the one to carry on his legacy. ” He mentioned it during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio.
“I can assure you that Lisa Marie has always looked out for Elvis’ best interests, no matter what else was going on in her life or career… no matter what someone else was trying to accomplish or what another family member was attempting to do.”
“We only want to consider Elvis’ best interests and what Lisa would have preferred. She was certain Riley was present at all times,” Joel added. “No one has any questions about it since Lisa has spoken about it, there is a ton of written information, and she has discussed it with many of her friends. There was never any doubt, and anyone who speaks otherwise is not speaking in Elvis’, Lisa’s, or, most emphatically, Riley’s best interests.”
Priscilla addressed the incident in a statement.
“Elvis and I share a deep affection for one another. Lisa is the result of our union,” Priscilla added. According to the statement, anyone who holds a different opinion is disrespecting Elvis’ and the family’s legacy.
“Someone who has bought their way into the business is attempting to speak on our family’s behalf. This individual does not speak for Elvis or our family.” She went on, but she didn’t say to whom she was speaking. “Please give us the time we need to work through this together. I beg you to ignore the noise. I will continue to pave the way forward with respect, honesty, dignity, integrity, and love, as I have for Elvis Presley’s legacy, our family, and the fans.”
