Meri Brown, one of the stars of the reality show “Sister Wives,” has had a very difficult year. After 32 years of marriage, she decided to divorce her husband, Cody Brown, who is also separated from his wives Janelle Brown and Christine Brown. Now, Meri has even more difficult news to deal with.
Meri shared on Instagram that her brother Adam has died. His cause of death was cancer, and she knew that this day would eventually come. She wrote, “About 5 weeks ago I got a text from my brother saying he had made the decision to not continue his chemo treatment, due to the rapid progression of his cancer & deterioration of his body.”
Adam died on October 5, 2023. He was only 54 years old, two months shy of celebrating his 55th birthday.
Then Meri shared why Adam’s death is extra emotional for her. She wrote, “Shortly after I learned that Adam’s cancer was terminal & that he potentially had only weeks or months to live, something hit me like a ton of bricks. After his passing, I would be the one remaining from the original four.”
Meri has multiple siblings, but before her parents moved from California to Utah and “began their lives as a plural family,” Meri only had three siblings, two brothers and a sister. She wrote, “We lost Teresa, our sister just younger than me, to cancer in 2006. We lost our oldest brother Marc to heart issues in 2015. Now Adam to another type of cancer. That leaves me.”
Despite her sadness at her brother’s death, Meri is trying to stay positive. She wrote, “I will move forward living, loving, forgiving, remembering.” She added that her relationship with Adam “taught me many things, and I have no doubt will continue to teach me things. I remain open to those lessons & look forward to them with anticipation.”
