Ted Danson is a legendary actor with a long list of memorable roles. On-screen, he portrays endearing characters. In his personal life, though, he fights disease with dignity and the support of his devoted wife.
Let’s look at Ted Danson’s life and how he saved himself from financial catastrophe…
We can all agree that Ted Danson is a superb actor, whether you know him from “Cheers,” “Three Men and a Baby,” or more recently from “The Good Place.”
For many years, the actor, who recently turned 75, has been in love with his wife, Mary Steenburgen. The couple married 22 years ago but still love each other as if they were newlyweds.
“I’m head over heels in love with Mary Steenburgen. She’s a wonderful human being, so I’m truly blessed,” Danson added.
Danson adores his wife, even though they have been married for two decades. “It’s like heaven on Earth. If I die, I’ll be able to say, I know what it’s like to be loved and to love,” he once stated.
Steenburgen introduced Danson to transcendental meditation when they first met in 1995. Danson said it saved his life in the following years, noting, “Life gets more confusing and stressful the older you are. I no longer find [meditation] entertaining or intriguing; it is a lifeline.”
He claims that as he grew older, the practice became a part of his everyday routine. It is usually done twice daily and consists of silent meditation and mantra repetition.
Danson has arthritis, which has no treatment. But he is convinced that his meditative practices keep his symptoms at bay. Whenever he experiences pain from a flare-up, he instantly goes to meditation to relieve the suffering.
Aside from the physical benefits, meditation has helped him recognize what is essential in life. “…be present with my grandchildren, be present with my wife, be honest, be loving, be present,” Danson stated.
Danson and Steenburgen met in the film “Cross Creek” set in 1983. Danson auditioned for the role of her on-screen husband but was not cast. In retrospect, he says he’s pleased he did because he wasn’t in a good place at the time.
They were both married to other people at the time. But they reconnected on the set of “Pontiac Moon” in 1993. They couldn’t ignore each other this time.
They were both divorced and had decided to remain single. When they met again, while Steenburgen was attracted to Danson, she thought he was difficult, so they chose to become friends instead.
On the other hand, Danson desired more than friendship and planned a canoe and picnic trip to Mendocino, California. They were madly in love with each other when they returned from their trip.
They are still madly in love with one other after more than two decades. “I want to spend as much time as possible with Mary,” Danson stated.
The love of Danson and Steenburgen demonstrates that not everyone gets it right the first time. It can take some time to find the proper person.
We are overjoyed to learn how much these two adore one another and how content they are with one another. Share this article with your Ted Danson-loving friends and family!
