This heartwarming story is about Chris Garafola from Vermont and his older sister, Brittany, who has Down syndrome. Growing up, their friendship flourished, and their bond became even stronger. So when Chris found his soulmate, Tatiana, he knew Brittany had to play a significant role in their wedding.
Tatiana and Chris made the decision to wait until Brittany could be fully present at the wedding. Due to her condition, Brittany had a weakened immune system and needed to receive the COVID-19 vaccine before attending large gatherings, including the wedding.
In February 2021, Brittany received her vaccine, which marked the beginning of the wedding planning process for Chris and Tatiana. In late March, Chris, a model, shared a touching video on his YouTube channel. The video featured Tatiana speaking with Brittany through FaceTime. Brittany was already surprised to learn about her younger brother’s upcoming nuptials, but Tatiana had an even more heartfelt question for her.
“I wanted to ask you something. Can you be my maid of honor?” Tatiana asked, her voice filled with excitement. Overwhelmed with joy, Brittany couldn’t contain her happiness and tearfully replied, “Yes, I can.”
And so, in April 2021, Chris and Tatiana exchanged their vows, with Brittany standing proudly by their side as the maid of honor. The newlyweds had an additional surprise in store for Brittany—a one-of-a-kind ring to commemorate the special day.
“Brittany has been my best friend since day one, and even after marriage, that won’t change,” Chris expressed affectionately.
