According to Jonathan Ross, his daughter Betty is battling a chronic disease and is currently confined to a wheelchair.
The 62-year-old Jonathan Ross provided an update on his 31-year-old daughter Betty’s condition. The host’s daughter has POTS syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia.
Betty, Harvey, 29, and Honey, 25, are the three children Jonathan and his 52-year-old wife Jane Goldman have together.
The talk show host spoke on Loose Women about how his oldest child is improving after receiving treatment.
He mentioned how a “difficult couple of years” had passed since Betty’s fibromyalgia diagnosis.
According to the NHS, fibromyalgia is “a chronic disorder that causes pain throughout the body.”
Jonathan continued by describing his daughter’s battle with depression and the electric wheelchair she is currently using.
He informed the Loose Women panelists Kaye Adams, Frankie Bridge, Dame Kelly Holmes, and Denise Welch, “She has fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and POTS syndrome as well, which is where your heart rate rockets up.”
He stated of Betty’s condition and how it had affected the family, “She still can’t walk very far.
“In the summer, we bought her an electric wheelchair so that we could at least go on walks with the dogs, and that has really helped to improve her spirits.
“Because if anyone out there knows or has a loved one with a long-term sickness, you know, it’s the depression,” the speaker said.
“Being confined indoors and unable to participate in activities because she finds even stairs difficult.
Therefore, if we’re going somewhere, we need to allow her plenty of time to prepare, go downstairs, and then have a break before moving on, you know.
Although it does have an effect, the good news is that she is clearly improving and feeling better about herself. Therefore, we are glad and relieved.
However, Jonathan continued by giving some encouraging information regarding Betty’s condition therapy.
“We located a decent… The Perrin therapy is something that exists,” he said.
“She sought it out online because she’s a smart young woman, so she has to want to do the treatment,” the inventor said when he came to talk to me about it.
“I can’t just tell her to “try this, try that.’ If she feels it’s wrong in some manner and she won’t give it her all, then it’s obviously not worth trying.
But since we’ve been receiving the treatment, she has undoubtedly improved.
Jonathan acknowledged that he was a bad parent when Kaye said that parents often “want to repair” their kids, saying, “Even if my wife tells me something’s wrong in her day, I have to try to remember myself that sometimes I simply need to listen.
Because whenever she tells me something, I immediately say, “Well, I’ll call this man and I’ll do this,” and she replies, “Okay, I don’t… I just wanted to let you know that I had this awful day because I’m not interested.
I have to constantly remind myself that sometimes all she needs from a partner is someone to listen to her and share it. So it’s a learning process,” he said.
