When Vince Gill initially arrived on the music scene in 1979 as a member of the country rock band Pure Prairie League, it was assumed he would last. He gets the crowds excited every time he lets loose with his powerful vocals, and his performances are definitely one-of-a-kind.
Gill has more than 20 albums under his belt and has won the hearts of people all around the country. This excellent artist, who is also a devout Christian, has recently introduced more gospel music into his performances, and people seem to enjoy it.
The audience was ecstatic to see him play on the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee, knowing he was about to put on a concert to remember.
However, his superiors advised him to refrain from singing religious songs and to refrain from mentioning Jesus.
Gill could have walked onto that platform and done as he was told, but instead he followed his instincts and did something absolutely spectacular that had everyone on their feet.
The strong and moving music and lyrics of “Why Me Lord” soon filled the space. The song was first performed and recorded by Kris Kristofferson in 1972, and Gill’s vocal abilities worked wonders.
He received standing ovations, and the video of his performance rapidly went viral.
We all applaud Gill for remaining faithful to his beliefs and thank him for the wonderful music he has provided us over the years.
