You won’t be able to take your gaze away from this breathtaking performance. As Simon Cowell and his other judges prepare to be amazed on Britain’s Got Talent, nine women take the stage.
The women are costumed as if they just stepped off a WWII-period film set, complete with military uniforms, victory rolls, pinned hair, and cherry red lipstick – all very recognizable icons from another era.
The females create a military formation against an orange, pink, and purple digital backdrop. You’d be correct if you thought it looked like a WWII poster.
Then something happens. The D-Day Darlings deliver a sincere rendition of a timeless classic that fits both the era and the performance perfectly. I won’t ruin things for you by revealing the song’s title. You’ll simply have to wait and see. Many people were moved by this emotional flashback.
The D-Day Darling choir was founded in 2008 as a result of their fascination with and respect for the period, as well as having family members in the Armed Forces, both past and present; for example, one of their grandfathers, Clifford Storr, was an RAF Flight Navigator for the famous Lancaster Bomber aircraft.
As if their spirited performance wasn’t enough to win over both the judges and the audience, a group of veterans dressed in military uniforms walked onto the stage, adding an entirely new dimension to this incredible display.
That’s when it sinks in: they aren’t entertainers. They are true heroes of The Greatest Generation, and they are present with us right now. This was a wonderful homage, but it’s the very least we can do. We can do so much more for the people who fought for the liberty we have today.
Watch and share this retro performance with a buddy. This one-of-a-kind concert will captivate WWII history experts and music fans alike. It’s a really refreshing performance. Watch, enjoy, and then spread the word.
