It is something we should all read at least once a week! Make sure you read to the end!

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio.

“I once wrote the 42 lessons life taught me as a way to celebrate getting older.”

In August, my odometer reached 90. Thus this is the column once more:

Even though life isn’t fair, it’s still good.

When in doubt, take the next small step.

Life is too short – enjoy it.

Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

Every month, pay off your credit cards.

You don’t have to prevail in every discussion. Stay true to who you are.

Cry with someone. Compared to just crying, it’s more therapeutic.

Save for retirement starting with your first salary.

When it comes to chocolate, resistance is pointless.

So that your past won’t ruin the present, make peace with it.

You can let your kids watch you cry.

Stay away from life comparisons. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

You shouldn’t be in a relationship if it needs to be kept secret…

Breathe in deeply. It eases mental tension.

Get rid of anything unnecessary. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.

Anything that doesn’t kill you actually makes you stronger.

It’s never too late to be happy. But you alone are responsible for it.

Never accept “no” as an answer when pursuing your dreams in life.

Use the lovely blankets, light the candles, and put on the designer undergarments. Don’t wait till a special occasion to use it. Today is unique.

Prepare too much, then adapt as necessary.

Be bizarre right now. Don’t save wearing purple for old age.

The most important sex organ is the brain.

No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

Frame every so-called tragedy with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’

Constantly go for life.

Forgive but don’t forget.

It is not your concern what others think of you.

Time heals almost everything. Allow enough time.

Whatever the situation’s pros or cons, it will change.

Don’t be so serious with yourself. Nobody else performs.

Believe in miracles.

Avoid auditing life. Show up and take advantage of this moment.

Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

Your children receive only one childhood.

The fact that you loved is ultimately all that matters.

Get outside every day. All around us, miracles are waiting. If everyone put their problems in a pile and we saw everyone else’s, we would all grab our own back (I love this one).

Time is wasted on envy. Accept what you already have not what you need.

It gets better from here…

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Yield.

Even though life isn’t wrapped up in a bow, it is still a gift.
