He put a lot of time and work into his gift, and his father’s reaction was well worth it.
Because of something endearing he did, a 9-year-old Massachusetts youngster has become an internet phenomenon. Aaron Gouveia first shared a video of his son giving him an exceptionally thoughtful gift.
Gouveia shared the video on his TikTok account @daddyfiles, and it received over 13 million views in just three days. The father of three was overjoyed to receive such a thoughtful present from his kid.
Gouveia stated in an interview that his kid had been taking sewing classes for over a year and had been inspired to take up the hobby by his great-aunt Val.
“His great-aunt is an incredible seamstress. She sews everything. She’s been making us gifts our entire lives, and he thought it was so cool,” Gouveia explained in the interview. “So, for the last few years, she has been showing him how to do things, and he got to the point where he wanted to kick it up a notch.”
Sam has been learning the art of sewing at the Franklin Mill Store in his neighborhood. According to his father, the skilled nine-year-old has already produced cat pajama bottoms for his brother, many scrunchies, a dress for his cousin, a pillowcase, and a shirt.
“I was so impressed and flattered that he wanted to make it for me,” said Gouveia.
“It’s fantastic. It’s unique. It appears to be from the 1970s. It almost looks like a leisure suit lapel. But it fit, and it was my style,” he remarked of the now-famous navy blue shirt with a gorgeous detailed floral print of roses.
In the video, the little child can be seen beaming with delight as he tells his father how he constructed the shirt. His father instantly tries it on and lavishes praise on his kid. He expresses his joy at receiving the gift and praises his son’s talent.
Gouveia’s books include “Raising Boys to Be Good Men” and “Men and Miscarriage.” He stated he wore the shirt to his father’s birthday dinner the night he received it as a gift and wants to wear it again shortly.
Sam is the lone boy in the class, but this does not stop him. “He’s the only boy there but doesn’t seem to mind. That does not deter him. “He adores it,” Gouveia added. “[Franklin Mill Store] is such a secure and educational environment.” “We owe them a great deal,” he added.
“He’s only nine and making these dresses, shirts, pants, pillowcases, scrunchies, and other things.” “It’s truly incredible,” the ecstatic father continued.
Sam has also gone viral in the past. On his 9th birthday, his excitement to receive a sewing machine grabbed the hearts of millions worldwide. In 2018, he also went viral because he donned nail paint, which was mocked, but strangers online rallied in support of the small youngster.
For the time being, Sam is hard at work on his sewing. “He doesn’t want his mother to feel left out, so he’s also working on a shirt for her,” Gouveia explained.
