Andie MacDowell, a well-liked performer who debuted on screen in the 1980s and was formerly recognized for her unusual curling brown hair, is now promoting gray pride as a silver-haired starlet.

MacDowell, aging gracefully, stated that she likes to “compare herself to George Clooney, because why not?”

Andie MacDowell, a 65-year-old natural beauty with nothing to conceal, is a senior citizen as of her birthday on April 21.

The southern belle made her acting debut in 1984’s Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes after beginning her modeling career with high-end labels like Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, and Calvin Klein.

Because MacDowell’s drawl was too strong for the part of Jane in the Oscar-nominated movie, Glenn Close dubbed MacDowell’s voice instead.

The soft-spoken, attractive actor stunned the crowd when the amiable Brat Pack appeared in St. Elmo’s Fire as a supporting cast member.

The next year, she starred in Steven Soderbergh’s Sex, Lies & Videotape, for which she received her first Golden Globe nomination.

Her financial breakthrough, further raised following the comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral (1984) with Hugh Grant, may have begun with her top part with Bill Murray in Groundhog Day (1983). This movie has influenced popular culture for decades.

MacDowell, a well-known method performer, went on to play a variety of characters in movies like Harrison’s Flowers and the family TV series Cedar Cove.

Unsurprisingly, MacDowell was chosen to appear in TV advertisements promoting L’Oréal hair products, given her stunning brown hair.

MacDowell confidently displays her make-up-free face, framed by her now gray-silver hair wrapped into a low bun. She was recently photographed in Cannes on a casual outing.

The star from Green Card, who was in the city for the 76th Cannes Film Festival, showcased her natural beauty in a relaxed white striped little dress with dark sunglasses and brown and black platform heels.

Prior Covid, MacDowell claimed that she had welcomed the appearance of her gray hair. In an interview with Vogue, she explained, “My hair started growing at the beginning of quarantine, and every time my kids saw me, they kept telling me I looked badass with my gray hair.”

“When I put it in a bun, all that was visible was the salt and pepper, which is how you could describe me—dark and silver. Why not? I enjoy drawing comparisons to George Clooney. I’ve been saying for a while that I needed to change since it seemed right for my personality and just who I am.”

And even though her management told her that “it’s not the time” to start graying, she insisted that if she accepted where she was at the time, she would be stronger. “It’s now…I won’t have the opportunity to be salt and pepper if I don’t act immediately. I’ve always wanted to be pepper and salt.”

MacDowell uploaded a picture of her Style magazine cover in 2022, showing off her gray hair and unprocessed look. She wrote in the caption, “As we age, we deserve dignity and pride. We deserve to feel magnificent,” she continued. “I’ve always said that beauty is timeless.”

Her acting career has no time limit as well.

Along with her 28-year-old daughter Margaret Qualley, whom she shared with her ex-husband Paul Qualley, MacDowell participated in the Netflix drama series Maid in 2021. Two additional children, son Justin, and daughter Rainey, were born to MacDowell and Qualley, who were married in 1986 and divorced in 1999.

MacDowell, who co-starred with Michael Keaton in 1996’s Multiplicity, is filming the movie Goodrich, which also stars Mila Kunis, Kevin Pollak, and Michael Keaton.

Hallie Meyers-Shyer, who, like Margaret, is one of many “nepo babies” of rising stars and starlets with extremely renowned parents, wrote and directed the movie.

Andie McDowell embraces her natural beauty, and we think she looks amazing with gray hair!

How do you feel about McDowell’s gray hair? Are you a supporter of gray pride as well?
