The actress was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her role as Tina.

Andrea Evans, one of daytime television’s biggest stars, died at age 66, leaving the globe in mourning.

Don Carroll, her longtime manager, revealed that the celebrated actress died of cancer on Sunday. Her current manager, Nick Leicht, expressed his sorrow at her death.

“I’ve been working with Andrea for seven years now. She was a tremendous talent and an absolute joy to work with.”

Andrea, a well-known daytime actress, is best known for her role as disturbed adolescent Tina Lord on One Life to Live and then as Patty Williams on The Young and the Restless.

In 1988, her portrayal of Tina garnered her a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series.

Frank Valentini, former executive producer of One Life to Live and current EP of General Hospital, paid tribute to the late star on Twitter.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of Andrea Evans’ passing,” he wrote. “Andrea was already a big star when I started at OLTL.”

“She was always gracious, kind, and a joy to work with. A midday icon who will be much missed. My condolences to her friends and family.”

Andrea was nominated for another Daytime Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series for her role as Vivian Price in the web series DeVanity.

Andrea’s other significant television performances outside daytime drama include Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions and Patty Walker on The Bay.

She also appeared in films and television shows such as A Low Down Dirty Shame, Ice Cream Man, and Hit List. Andrea departed One Life to Live in the 1990s to pursue a career break and remained unnoticed for many years.

In 2008, she told the outlet that a terrifying encounter with a stalker inspired her to pull away from the spotlight. “It’s forever changed me,” she confessed. “There’s no way it could not.”

The beloved actress reprised her role as Tina in a cameo appearance on One Life to Live the same year.

Her homecoming was a much-anticipated event, with Executive Producer Valentini telling TV Guide in 2008 that fans had been waiting for her return for years.

“Even though Andrea has not appeared on OLTL since 1990, she has remained among the most requested characters to return to the show,” he said.

“I welcome her back to OLTL and the role where she left an indelible imprint on our audience.”

Andrea’s husband, Stephen Rodriguez, whom she married in 1998, and their daughter, Kylie, survive her. From 1981 to 1983, she married her One Life to Live co-star Wayne Massey.
