Ed Sheeran breaks down in a new TV documentary about his wife Cherry’s health crisis.

In the new teaser for his upcoming Disney+ docu-series, The Sum Of It All, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran may be in tears. The series, set to premiere in May, will follow the 32-year-old as he deals with the health concern of his wife, Cherry Seaborn, and the devastating passing of his best buddy Jamal Edwards.

The new teaser begins with clips showing Ed as a child performing. He states: “He has ginger hair and stutters. The guy isn’t going to become a pop sensation… It’s really unlikely.”

“Everything in my life improved dramatically after Cherry entered the picture. I married, and I became a father to two girls” Ed says this while watching recordings of his wife. Earlier this year, the musician disclosed that his wife was diagnosed with a tumor while pregnant with their second kid.

Ed tears on stage in the trailer, as his wife says: “I’ve never seen him cry onstage before. He hasn’t had the opportunity to process and reconcile his views.” Ed then observes: “I feel like I’m learning something new every day because life is unpredictable, and things can change quickly.”

Ed says as images of the late Jamal are shown: “Loss had completely taken over my life. When anything big happens, I usually write a song about it.” Jamal Edwards, the son of Loose Women star Brenda, died of a heroin overdose in February of last year at 31.

In a statement, Ed explained why he decided to film the intimate documentary: “I’ve always been quite discreet about my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made was about my songs.”

“When Disney approached me about making a four-part documentary, I knew it was time to open the door and let people in. I hope everyone enjoys it.” On Thursday, May 4, Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All will be available on Disney+.
