Actress Hayden Panettiere recently took to Instagram to address the controversy surrounding her interview with PEOPLE Magazine. In the emotional interview, Panettiere spoke about the unexpected death of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, in 2023. However, some viewers expressed concern about her speech, mistaking it for slurred words.
Panettiere, in her Instagram post, expressed her disappointment at being ridiculed and defended herself against the criticism. She stated that she felt compelled to address the situation where she wouldn’t be criticized for her speaking pace.
Before the interview, Panettiere revealed that she had been dealing with sleep deprivation due to the recovery of one of her dogs from emergency surgery. Despite her exhaustion, the interview went on for an extended period. Her representative eventually halted the interview as it became evident that Panettiere was fading, especially with the weight of the subject matter.
Panettiere explained that she had requested to redo the interview at a later time or facilitate a follow-up interview on Zoom, but she was reassured that it was unnecessary. She also emphasized that the decision about her medication and mental health was a personal matter between her and her doctor.
Panettiere highlighted the issue of social media toxicity and how it can have a detrimental impact on someone’s mental health. She urged people to consider the consequences of their words when hiding behind a computer screen and expressed gratitude to those who supported her amidst the chaos.
As she concluded her post, Panettiere acknowledged that she, like everyone else, is a work in progress and highlighted the importance of mental health.
