Jada Pinkett Smith remembers former co-star Stephen “tWitch” Boss as “gentle and kind.”

The former DJ for the Ellen DeGeneres Show committed suicide at 40, according to his wife, Allison Holker Boss.

Pinkett Smith, 51, who worked with the dancer on the 2015 film Magic Mike XXL, was among the celebrities who paid tribute to him.

She captioned an Instagram photo of herself with Stephen and co-star Donald Glover, “I woke up this morning to the news that tWitch is gone.”

“My heart hurts for his wife, Allison and their three children, Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia. I want to express my condolences to his loved ones.”

“We had a terrific time on the Magic Mike set.” Pinkett Smith kept talking. “He was extraordinarily kind, sensitive, and giving.” “So many individuals suffer in silence. He should have recognized he didn’t have to. May the Great Supreme cradle his dazzling, beautiful soul in His arms, and may the same Higher Power heal his loved ones’ wounded hearts.”

Stephen rose to prominence as a participant on MTV’s The Wade Robson Project prior to winning second on Star Search. He later appeared on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008, finishing the season as runner-up and then returning as an All-Star. He participated as a judge when the show returned in 2022. He has also appeared on Step Up All In and Modern Family.

In 2014, Boss made his debut as a guest DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He eventually became a regular character on the program, and he was appointed to co-executive producer in 2020.

Stephen’s 34-year-old wife, Allison, stated in a statement that “every space he entered with light. He valued his family, friends, and community above all else. He believed that leading with love and light was the greatest way to go. He served as the cornerstone of our family, was the best husband and father, and served as an example to his followers.”

“It would be an understatement to say he left a legacy, and his positive influence will be remembered for a long time,” she added. “I’m confident that there will never be a day when we don’t remember him. We respectfully seek your privacy during this difficult time for myself and our three children.”

“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you,” Allison said to her husband.
