Some people appear younger than their actual age, which most appreciate when they are complimented on their youthful appearance. Some people enjoy caring for themselves, while others may have it in their genes.
But did you know that some adults can appear much younger than their age, almost like children? Believe it or not, some people do.
That is the case for one 23-year-old woman who looks like an 8-year-old girl. Since they began dating, her boyfriend has been chastised for being romantically involved with her, with many citing her youthful appearance as an issue.
You’ve probably seen “I Am Shauna Rae” if you like TLC shows. It follows Shauna Rae Lesick, a woman diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Although she is in remission, the illness had the unintended consequence of trapping her in the body of a young girl because she had stopped growing. She weighs 50 pounds and stands 3 feet 10 inches tall.
Because of her youthful appearance and stunted growth, Lesick found it challenging to break into the dating scene. However, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait… So she finally found the one she was looking for.
Lesick’s happiness was short-lived after her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dan Swygart, was dubbed “creepy.”
Swygart’s romantic relationship with Lesick bothered most people, according to a story published in The Mirror, because she appeared and speaks like a child.
“Dan appears to be drawn to her specifically because she is so small, which is concerning. “I’m sorry,” one person said.
“She’s 23, but she looks and talks like an eight-year-old. She also does not project the image of a mature woman. “She has a childlike demeanor,” said another.
“Any man or woman who truly believes she is a “sexy woman” is either lying or insane. “PERIOD,” another person said.
Patty and Mark Schrankel, Lesick’s mother and stepfather, expressed concern in one of the reality show’s episodes that their daughter might fall victim to pedophiles because of her appearance.
Swygart explained his feelings for Lesick in December 2022. He was inspired by her strength when he first saw her in the first season of the show. So he decided to send her flowers and a card with the message, “Go live your best life. I wish you all the happiness you deserve.
“Swygart stated that, despite Lesick’s disability, she is a wonderful woman he adores.
“It’s important to remember that Shauna is a remarkable 23-year-old disabled woman,” Swygart said.
Swygart, on the other hand, stated that he fell in love with Lesick because of the bond he developed with her, not because of appearances.
“So, as you connect with her, remember to acknowledge her disability and look past it to connect with who she is as an individual,” he said.
Swygart was disgusted by those who thought his intentions with Lesick were malicious.
“You dehumanize her when you say she can’t have a real-world connection with someone else,” he said. “She is a living being, and she has the right to have relationships and connections with whomever she wants,” he added.
Lesick and Swygart’s budding romance, however, appears to be over. When asked by the Daily Record, Lesick revealed that if they were to make it work, they would have to try long distance, but “it’s not my cup of tea,” she said.
