Did you know that Michael Jackson has not one, but two stars on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame? It’s true! Let’s find out why the King of Pop has this unique honor.
One of the stars belongs solely to Michael Jackson in recognition of his incredible solo career and his chart-topping hits. The second star actually belongs to the musical group he was a part of during his childhood, The Jackson 5 (later known as The Jacksons).
You might be wondering why someone like Michael Jackson would have two stars. Well, the Hollywood Walk of Fame has different categories, and it’s possible for artists to claim multiple stars for various achievements. In Michael’s case, he has one star for his individual contributions and another for his time with The Jackson 5.
Interestingly, there are other celebrities who have multiple stars on the Walk of Fame. Artists like Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Jack Benny also have three stars each, recognizing their various accomplishments throughout their careers.
However, there is one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame that you cannot step on. It belongs to boxing legend Muhammad Ali and is placed vertically at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This unique placement ensures that no one person can step on his star.
While many celebrities feel honored to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, there are a few who have declined the offer. One such example is the talented actress Julia Roberts. She was actually nominated for a star in 1995 but declined the honor because she didn’t like the idea of people stepping on her name on the street.
Now, you might be wondering if names have ever been removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The answer is no. Once a star has been added, it becomes a permanent part of the historic fabric of the Walk of Fame, never to be removed.
So, the next time you stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, keep an eye out for Michael Jackson’s two stars, representing his extraordinary musical career and his early beginnings with The Jackson 5. It’s a testament to the impact he made on the music industry and pop culture as a whole.
