Katie Holmes successfully nurtured her adolescent daughter, Suri, away from the spotlight and provided her with a comfortable life in New York.
Yet the daughter of Katie and her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, will be 17 next month, and she will no longer be a child.
Suri’s birthday is April 16, which will be her last before she becomes an adult.
It’s difficult to believe that Katie’s only kid will turn 18 in a year, as it seems that she and the Top Gun actor welcomed her into the world only yesterday.
It will be an emotional time for Katie, who is incredibly proud of her daughter and their closeness.
While she doesn’t frequently divulge specifics about their personal lives, the Dawson’s Creek star did open up about living in New York City with Suri on Live with Kelly and Ryan this week.
“It is wonderful because there are indications of spring,” she exclaimed, expressing her desire to visit Central Park. “I just want to go for a walk, go to the MoMA.
“Much is happening in New York, especially after the pandemic. After seeing the city shut down and going through that, you now want to see every show!”
Suri appears to be following in her mother’s footsteps as a performer and has a lovely singing voice. She performed the opening titles of Katie’s film, Alone Together.
“She’s very talented,” Katie said of her daughter’s performance in the film to Yahoo! Entertainment. She said she’d do it, so she did, and I let her do her thing,”
Katie stated. “That’s how I generally direct: ‘This is what I think we all want – to do your thing.’”
When asked why she chose Suri for the job, the mother of one replied, “I always want the best level of talent. Therefore, I requested her.”
Katie revealed another rare glimpse into her connection with Suri in 2021, telling InStyle, “I love her so much. My main goal has always been to help her develop her unique personality. To ensure she is completely herself, strong, confident, and capable. And to be aware of it.”
Suri lives with Katie full-time and is said to be separated from her father.
