Just a few days before, Lisa Marie Presley was photographed at the Golden Globes, appearing to talk slowly and with slurred speech.
Lisa Marie Presley died of a heart attack at 54, only days after being interviewed and participating in the 2023 Golden Globes ceremony in support of the 2022 movie Elvis. The only child of Elvis Presley spoke to a US publication while fumbling over her words.
Billy Bush, the Extra host, spoke with Lisa and her friend Jerry Schilling on the red carpet.
In the video, Lisa said, “I’m going to grab your arm,” as she turned to her friend for comfort.
When answering questions about Elvis musician Austin Butler, she appeared to be speaking slowly and slurring her words.
The interviewee, standing next to longtime friend Jerry, an Elvis talent manager, predicted “a wonderful night for Elvis” at the outset of the meeting.
She said she adored Austin and was “mind-blown” by his performance in the film, for which he won Best Actor.
According to Lisa, “it took me five days to understand [his performance]. It was very authentic and accurate.”
He imitated the “characteristics [and] the talking without doing it comically like it’s been done in the past,” according to Lisa.
“It’s done in a comedic, joking manner, similar to how [Elvis] spoke, but Austin got it and did it correctly without making it amusing,” according to the speaker.
As the interview ended, Lisa informed her the interviewer that Austin was leaving through the front door.
According to Craig Little, a spokesperson for the county’s fire department, paramedics were summoned to the Calabasas residence at 10.37 a.m. (6.37 p.m. GMT) in response to a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest.
Paramedics arrived around six minutes later, according to the spokeswoman.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the patient showed “signs of life” after paramedics performed CPR on them.
Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed in a statement that her daughter had been rushed to the hospital.
The note added, “My cherished Lisa Marie was brought to the hospital. She is currently receiving the best care. Please remember to pray for her and our family.”
“We appreciate the prayers from around the world and respectfully request your privacy. Priscilla Presley”
Priscilla informed PEOPLE on Thursday night that her daughter had tragically died due to a suspected cardiac arrest.
“I must relay the painful news that my lovely daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” the statement started.
“She was the most zealous, brave, and kind lady I’d ever known.”
“As we struggle to come to grips with this sad loss, we ask for privacy. Thank you for your prayers and consideration. At this time, no more remarks will be made.”
