Georgina Cooper, the cherished supermodel from the 1990s, known for her unforgettable gap-toothed smile, sadly passed away during her honeymoon in Greece. She was just 46 years old.

This tragedy overshadowed what should have been a joyful period for Georgina Cooper and her husband, Nigel. Friends and colleagues, including Jade Parfitt and Erin O’Connor, announced Georgina’s passing on social media. It was reported that complications from long COVID contributed to this unfortunate event.

Georgina and her new husband had been on the picturesque Greek island of Kos, enjoying their honeymoon just months after their wedding. Sadly, their trip took a dire turn when Georgina fell gravely ill and was quickly taken to a local hospital.

Cause of Death

Due to the critical nature of her illness, Georgina was airlifted by helicopter to Crete for more advanced medical treatment. Despite the intensive care she received over five days, Georgina sadly passed away, leaving her family and friends devastated.

“Georgina had struggled with health issues during the COVID pandemic and had been hospitalized several times. She had dreams for the future, having just married and eagerly anticipating the next chapter of her life. Her passing has left everyone heartbroken. She was a true superstar,” shared her former agent, Dean Goodman.

While the exact cause of death wasn’t officially disclosed, it’s believed that a brain hemorrhage connected to long COVID complications may have played a role in her untimely demise at the age of 46.

Early Days and Breakthrough

Georgina Cooper burst onto the fashion scene as one of the prominent “cool Brits” of the ’90s and early 2000s. Her modeling journey kicked off at the tender age of 13, and just two years later, she found fame through her appearance in a Bon Jovi music video, celebrated for her signature smile.

Reflecting on her early career, Georgina mentioned in Corinne Day’s documentary, “Diary,” that she only realized the influence of her work much later in life when others praised her contributions to fashion.

Appearing on the covers of leading magazines like The Face, Georgina’s infectious positivity and timeless look established her as a beloved icon in the fashion industry.

Life Beyond Modeling

After becoming a mother, Georgina left modeling to focus more on family life. She transitioned from the dazzling world of fashion to working as a midwife and in hospitality. Her focus shifted to nurturing her son, Sonny, choosing him over professional modeling engagements.

“I tried to continue modeling while being a mother, but it became too heart-wrenching to leave Sonny for work. I prioritized modeling tasks in London, yet I was at a crossroad and decided Sonny’s needs came first,” she shared with The Cultural Omnivore.

Together with her partner, Georgina dreamed of opening a bar in Kos, where they had strong family ties. Tragically, these plans were cut short, but her legacy carries on through her devoted family and the love she spread among those who knew her.

She leaves behind her husband and son, who cherish her memory and the joy she brought into the lives of others.
